Backyard chickens can provide eggs, fertilizer, tillage, bug control and entertainment. This class will provide a basic introduction to keeping a small household flock in a town or city environment.
Topics include selecting the best breed for your situation, chicken housing, feeding, and keeping your chickens healthy. Dealing with codes and regulations, and keeping in good standing with your neighbors will be addressed. Where to buy chickens, costs, and sources of additional information are covered.
We will visit two backyard chicken set-ups and talk with keepers. If you want to successfully raise chickens, this class is for you. If you want to bring children under 12, please contact instructor at 859-893-4590.
